Lowes grocery chain with 82 locations set to close store in weeks but it's not all bad news for shop
LOWES Foods is about to lose a store from its 82 locations.
But the Winston-Salem grocery group has good news to comfort shoppers.

Last month, the grocery chain sold its supermarket in Stuart, Virginia, to Food Country, according to official statements by the company.
GOODBYE YADKINVILLE
For Yadkingville, North Carolina shoppers interested in one last hurrah, the store is set to close later this month.
The Lowes brand was founded in the 1990s in the mountains of North Carolina and in rural areas of Virginia.
However, its success saw the company expand to surrounding metropolitan areas.

As it stands, Lowes has 82 stores, with 21 located in the Triad.
The Yadkinville's location story with the brand may have ended, but it'll receive a new beginning under different management.
But Lowes ensured when one grocery door closes, another opens.
NOT ALL BAD NEWS FOR SHOPPERS
Lowes accompanied bad news with good and announced the company would open a store in Summerville, South Carolina.

It will be the fifth store in the burgeoning Charleston market.
The 50,887-square-foot store will arrive in 2025, anchoring a new retail center between two large Berkeley County residential developments.
The expansion is part of the company's plan to grow its presence in other markets.
Additionally, Lowes acquired Foothills IGA Market in Marble Hill, Georgia, with plans to make it the grocer's first store in the state.
Customers can expect the store to continue operating as an IGA until early 2024.
"Our coming stores in Summerville and Georgia will be important areas of growth for our company, and we're excited about our continuing expansion in those markets," said Tim Lowe, president of Lowes Foods.
"We also are pleased that Food Country has agreed to work to retain our employees in Stuart as our store there becomes part of the Food Country brand."
MORE GROCER OPENINGS
More grocery chains are seeking to grow their markets.
Sprouts Farmers Market announced it plans to open 40 new locations in 2024, including a new loyalty program.
It will be a nice boost to the company's more than 380 stores.
As inflation encourages Americans to eat at home, grocers increasingly find ways to reach new customers.
But it's not just store openings.
Big box retailers are also making improvements to retain customer loyalty.
For example, Walmart added more than 2,000 items to its cosmetics, pharmacy, and deli categories.
Still, hard economic times and varying geographic and economic factors mean success varies by neighborhood.

Earlier this year, the Roseville, California Sprouts Farmers Market said goodbye to its customers due to low sales since the pandemic.
Plus, Walmart has closed more than 22 stores this year alone.
