Andy Cox is an English guitarist born in Birmingham who, together with Dave Wakeling, founded The Beat in 1978. The Beat created 8 best singles and 3 hit albums in the UK before announcing disbandment in 1983. Some of their notable hits included "Mirror in the Bathroom", "Take your hand off, she's mine" and "I can't get used to getting lost". In 1985, he, along with his colleague Beat David Steele and singer Roland Gift, founded Fine Young Cannibals. In 1988, while Fine Young Cannibals was out of business, Cox and Steele released their home musical instrument single, "Tired of Getting Pushing Around", under the title Two Men, A Drum Machine and A Trumpet. It peaked at number 18 on the UK Singles Chart. That same year, they also collaborated with Wee Papa Girl Rappers' debut single, Heat It Up at number 21. In 2002, Cox formed Cribabi with Japanese singer Yukari Fujiu and released the Volume album on the label.
